confessions from the bathroom floor Category: Poems
I thought for a moment I could see Fluorescent lights A cold tile floor White walls Electric doors and clicking, clicking, clicking I could smell chlorine bleach Polyester sheets that crinkle when you lay in them A checkerboard An unfinished game drip, drip, dripping of my own life Down a drain and a steamy shower How am I still shivering even as I sear my flesh Knees to my chest I thought for a moment I could see Just where I went wrong, What made my parents’ love fade from their faces And contort into fear In the blink of an eye, it’s gone And I thought for a moment I could taste peace
