Universal Classic Monsters is a name given to the horror films made by Universal Pictures during the decades of the 1920s through the 1950s. The core monsters in the franchise were Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, The Invisible Man, the Mummy and The Creature from the Black Lagoon. The films often featured Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney Jr. The end of Universal's first run of horror films came in 1936. The monster movies were dropped from the production schedule altogether then re-emerged for yet another reign.

Frankenstein is a fictional character who first appeared in Mary Shelley's 1818 novel Frankenstein. Victor Frankenstein builds the creature in his laboratory. The monster is described as 8-foot-tall and hideous but sensitive and emotional. The monster attempts to fit into human society but is shunned and the monster comes to odds with his creator because of that. His only friend is a blind man who treats him with kindness. He becomes the target of the towns people after the drowning of a village girl. I feel great sadness for this misunderstood man made monster and his struggles to fit in and be accepted.
