Post shutting down soon
Current mood:
sad
Post, a news-oriented social network, announced that they are shutting down soon. Noam Bardin's post: It is with a heavy heart that I share this sad news with you. Despite how much we've accomplished together, we will be shutting down Post News within the next few weeks. We have done many great things together. We built a toxicity-free community, a platform where Publishers engage, and an app that validated many theories around Micropayments and consumers' willingness to purchase individual articles. We even managed to cultivate a phenomenal tipping ecosystem for creators and commenters. But, at the end of the day, our service is not growing fast enough to become a real business or a significant platform. A consumer business, at its core, needs to show rapid consumer adoption and we have not managed to find the right product combination to make it happen.

Resource List to Support Palestine!!!
hi hello, i havent seen many people on friendproject talk about or share resources & donations for Palestine, so i figured i'd make a list for any links, donations, etc. comment if i missed anything & ill add it! ORGANISATIONS Care for Gaza is a non-profit charity that are actively posting on-ground in Gaza and rely on donations to give aid, food, and cash. they have a paypal & gofundme, and here is their instagram. the taawon association partners with the bank of Palestine to give out hot meals to people in Gaza. anera provides urgent humanitarian aid, blankets, blood bags, hygeine kits, etc to Palestinians. hirbawi is the last and only factory in Palestine that makes kufiyas, buy one to show your support to Palestine! E-SIMS FOR GAZA eSIMs are digital SIM cards that work similarly to a physical one, providing internet access to people in Gaza during power blackouts and providing data & SMS for a phone number. you can buy eSIMs on apps like simly, holafly, nomad, mogo, etc, screenshot and send the QR code to anyone you know is on-ground in Gaza, or to [email protected]. check the eSIMs for Gaza website for more information on how to purchase an eSIM. @cartoonistcoop on tumblr shared that artists are offering art in exchange for the value of donating an eSIM, so heres more info on that if you're interested! DIRECT AID TO PEOPLE IN GAZA PETITIONS for more information & ways to help, please look at this masterpost on tumblr that includes info for donations, petitions, how to call your representatives for different locations, campaigns, boycotts, etc. it updates often & has many different ways you can help, even if you're not able to donate money. if you're unable to give money or support financially, the best you can do is USE YOUR VOICE! post online about it, talk to your family and friends about it, do research, sign petitions, anything to bring awareness so others that are able to can support aswell! also: Bisan Owda (wizard_bisan1 on instagram) called for a global strike from january 21st to the 28th. to participate in this, try to call out of work/school-- if you can't do that, wear something to work that shows your support (kufiya, pins, flags, etc), don't spend your money on unnecessary things until the strike is over, shop locally & at places that openly support Palestine, post and talk about Palestine often, make sure you are heard. i will be deleting any zionist comments.

Strike for Gaza January 21-28
Palestine is calling for a global strike from the 21st - 28th of January 2024. Here's a helpful guide on what you can do to participate in the strike. Even if you can't do it all, do the most that you can. 1. No Work Don't go to work. Don't go to classes. Call out. Talk to your colleagues, organise it together. If you cannot strike the whole time, do an hour together in solidarity. Walk out. Put up signs on your desks and anywhere visible, let people know about it. 2. Be Visible Wear clothes and bags in support of Palestine. Make signs, banners and similar eye-catching gear. Walk around with them, position them in your window, on your desk, anywhere it's visible. Hand out stickers and flyers and infographics. 3. Don't Buy Stuff Prepare and buy what is needed beforehand. Avoid going to stores, don't buy anything online. If something is needed, stay visible (see #2) and avoid companies profiting from Israel's crimes (follow the BDS boycott and check out bdnaash.com). Do not buy luxury items or anything not urgently needed for survival. 4. Let the World Know Talk to media about the strike. Post about it online, on social media and anywhere you can. Talk to people in your life about it. Invite people to strike with you. Spread the word as far as possible. Take part in local action. 5. Avoid Leisure Activities Don't go to watch a movie or eat in a restaurant. Skip the drinks after work and don't try a new class right now. The goal is to be disruptive, hit the economy and be noticeably absent. If you cannot, follow the above: stay visible, stay loud, keep talking about Palestine. 6. Help Each Other Ask unions for help. Cover for somebody, engage in mutual aid. Plan for disruptions. Don't try to be perfect - it makes you more likely to give up altogether. Do what you can and help others do what they can. We're stronger together. 7. Shut Social Media Down Use social media only to spread posts about Palestine. Scroll past the rest, don't engage. Don't post anything else. Don't use apps otherwise. Let Palestinian content flood the online world during strike days. 8. Whatever You Do, It Counts You can't do it all? That's ok. Find ways you can take part in it. Post on social media, use common hashtags (#StrikeForPalestine #FreePalestine #CeasefireNow). Write a song, make art. Turn your knowledge into informative posts that can be shared. Be the voice of the silenced. The more you can do, the better.
