egotistical f***ery #8 [music!]
Current mood:  awake

swiped from benji! a long time ago and for some reason i never filled it out n posted it?? it's 3 am so ofc a good time to do just that. my circadian rhythm is effed...

What are you listening to right now, if anything?
shadowplay by joy division. 10/10

What’s the last song you listened to completely?
new dawn fades bc one of the questions here reminded me of it. feelin some typa way.

What is your favorite song?
changes constantly, right now i'm in lesbians with bmth's sleepwalking. i also really like Violet Orlandi's cover of breaking benjamin's "diary of jane". her voice is kind of goaty like morrissey's and i like goaty voices a whole lot.

Are there any songs that can or have made you cry?
I am an absolute crybaby so buckle up
jet pack blues
the kids aren't alright (!) (f***.... "i think you're my best friend" kills me every f***ing time)
favorite record
alone together (nostalgia ;_;)
golden:
(And I saw God cry in the reflection of my enemies / And all the lovers with no time for me / And all of the mothers raise their babies to stay away from me / And pray they don't grow up to be...)
bishops knife trick (THE LAAAST BLUUES WE'RE EVER GONNA HAAVE)
... by fall out boy always make me melancholy.
asleep by the smiths. sh*t. fuk. dam.
disorder ("...make me feel the pleasures of a normal man" f***) and new dawn fades (can;t take much MOOOHRe) by joy division.
any song about death or suicide, or existential angst like jesus christ by brand new. that song f***s me up every time.
goner by twenty one pilots i can't listen to it
daydreaming by radiohead and several other songs by them
agnes by glass animals is so f***ing heartfelt and sad, and the singer (dave bayley) did the music video in a centrifuge to "replicate the physical effects of grief."
benji said "as the world caves in" by matt maltese and i really like that one for the existential angst, the backstory for the song makes it hard to be too sad though haha.
and lastly "famous last words" by mcr is both inspiring and makes me want to cry. like a really determined cryfest.

Do you have a shower playlist?
no i'd love to have one but unfortunately the humidity of a bathroom can cause water damage to electronic devices, and i can't hear it if i leave the door open (+ housemates). i'd definitely put songs like "roar" by katy perry or other shouty confident fun songs lol.

What about a bedtime playlist?
so many songs. i listen to artists like cigarettes after sex & two feet when i'm sleepy, but sometimes i put on something yelly and its chill as long as the volume doesn't fluctuate much. down with the sickness has a consistent volume all throughout so it's a great sleep/study song, minus the weird abuse bit in the middle.

Have any guilty pleasure bands or songs?
in the immortal words of p!nk, "i don't feel guilty about any of my pleasures."
gif of pink saying that with a big smile
i wouldn't be too loud about listening to MLP:FiM fan songs though...

What’s one song or band you used to like but now dislike?
ummm. glass animals came out with an album that sounds very 'soundcloudy'. i don't dislike the band yet, i'm just hoping they'll return to making more layered songs w a more distinct sound.

What’s one song or band you used to dislike but now like?
i started out listening to pop and electronica, so anything 'harsh' sounding i usually take a bit to warm up to! i used to only like the poppier BMTH songs but i've started getting into their earlier screamy work and it's f***in awesome. i'm also getting into DnB or whatever you call the overwhelmingly noisy electronic music w/ a fast beat Sewerslvt makes. i really like how Sewerslvt combines ridiculously fast beats with slower elements in the song that make it feel less frenetic. it's got an atmosphere, and i really really love atmosphere in songs.

Do you sing along when you listen to music you like?
yes but i sound like a screeching cat at best. it's tragic.
