More Magical Girl Stuff! (HappinessCharge Precure)

ey hey :P Two journals?? NOT months apart?? The sky is falling guys omg xDD So I noticed I haven't posted a magical girl post in forever, and I def want to change that bc I have a lot to say (and since I'm not doing work this weekend why not spend the whole day doing this xD). Since I've already done an Ojamajo Doremi post, all I have to do is Precure! I'm gonna break it up by show, for the sake of length lol. This post'll be about HappinessCharge Precure, one of my fav seasons ^^ It wasn't popular when it came out but if you like magical girls or Precure you should def give it a try! Honestly this show not being popular is probably one of the best things abt it if you like collecting like me, bc then you can get everything dirt cheap which is definitely good for a show that relies on collecting cards—LOTS of cards. (Fair warning, this'll prob be a long post with some huge gifs, so prepare ur browser xD It's best viewed on its own post page at 100%, so if you're reading this just scrolling through all my posts it might look a little weird >_<)   ere are the items I currently have! I don't have all of them, but I've got all the ones I wanted to go after. I've got some misc stuff I won't include here, I just want to talk abt the main items. From left to right, top to bottom: Fortune Tambourine, PreCard File (to store your card collection), PrettyChange Mirror, and Love PreBrace! Some of the names are a little weird in translation, but hey lol it wouldn't be weeby without stuff like that xD  Pre/Pretty (プリ) are pretty much interchangable, I'm just picking what I tend to say.   he main transformation item in the show is the PrettyChange Mirror! This item is pretty big compared to what I'm used to expecting for transformation items, but it has to be considering how it works. You slide a 'coordinate' of three cards into it from the top, and it lights up through the mirror! This season of Precure has a whole dress-up theme, so if you have any regular outfit cards you can mix them up and make new ones (which ig is how they wanted ppl to collect the cards). One thing I do like about this mirror is that if you have the midseason cure's cards (in this case, Cure Fortune), she also has a full transformation sequence! Generally, midseason cures (sixth ranger trope) have their own transformation/attack items, so the integration is nice for ppl like me who don't want to buy the separate item (for her, it's the Fortune Piano). Fortune is one of my favorite cures so I'm glad I can use all of her cards here ^^   he cards used in the mirror are called PreCards (or I guess... Pretty Cards??). They come in sets of two or three to make complete outfits: a character, top, and bottom card. There's a ton to collect outside of the main transformation/powerup cards, and I'm pretty sure they were compatible with the Precure arcade machines at the time (the black barcode at the top), which is really cool :D his season of the show also marked Precure's tenth anniversary, so PreCard sets for every cure to date were also released, which is really cool! Every cure gets a mini-transformation when you put their cards into the mirror, which is really thorough and a lot of effort considering that at that point there were around 37 cures in the franchise at the time (i think there's around 65 now? I pray for the 20th anniversary season in a few years lol). They also released special holiday cards, movie exclusive cards (that you got if you attended the precure movie in theaters afaik), and cards commemorating 500 total aired episodes!  don't plan on having a complete PreCard collection or anything, but I am missing a few important ones like both of Cure Princess' form changes (which sux bc she's another fav of mine oof Dx), and some of the Precure All Stars sets for cures I like from past seasons. But the great thing abt collecting these is that even years later you can find mint sets for great prices on western secondhand markets because this show didn't do well in Japan I guess, from what I've heard?? Which is a real shame because of how much work was put into the show and its merchandising. But hey, I sure do love finding rare PreCards for 500 yen on Japanese secondhand sites XDD Some of these cards even have different holographic overlays, which is such a cool detail tbh. I really love small things like that and HapiCha merch has a ton of them to appreciate and admire, and the season's aesthetic is really great.   don't have a whole lot to say about the Fortune Tambourine and Love PreBrace? I do like how the Fortune Tambourine operates to stay accurate to the show. It comes with a ring that connects wirelessly to the tambourine to activate attacks and stuff. It's a cool gimmick carried into her Fortune Piano, which comes with a ring that lights up with the color corresponding to which piano key is being pressed. The PreBrace is a wearable attack item (which is always fun and convenient for cosplay lol), and it's just motion sensor stuff. A nice detail though is that it also features Cure Lovely and Cure Princess's sub-attacks in the show, which could very easily be left out considering their bigger attacks are a lot flashier and tied into the merch way more. (I, for one, am pretty happy abt the inclusion of Princess Bullet Machine Gun, one of my favorite magical girl attack names XDD)   here u have it! This post was def harder to put together than the last one... rip me making those gifs xD I think the next one I'll do is Go! Princess Precure, as I really love the item designs/mechanics of that season and will prob have a lot to say abt everything xD idk when tho, formatting this post took way too long Dx I just hope it doesnt break lol. Thx for reading!!
