a non-music related blog (mostly)
Current mood:  tired

good things during this time because im tired of only hearing about bad things. ive been playing animal crossing due to the situation and it is so lovely. ive also been taking every opportunity while home alone to scream folk punk lyrics as loudly as possible. i was very worried for a clay art project i did of a dinosaur platter made to hold dino nuggets, but my art teacher said it will be fine even with school cancelled. im also making use of a lot more time to work on a mini comic with some of my characters. taking time to work on important things to me is nice. all of this to say that times can be scary, but there are always good things. sorry if this seems cheesy, im just fed up with constant information about every horrible thing going on. that said, stay safe and dont be racist based on a virus. or in general.

music rant

this is probably just gonna be a rant, but i hate how stuck-up people can be about music.
today one of my friends was saying how i cant really get into heavy music, which is pretty true. shes a metalhead, but ive never really gotten into metal. she said the heaviest i could get was falling in reverse (not quite true, but that was middle school), but the way she phrased it made it seem like i thought falling in reverse was a super metal band. for the record i know that especially compared to the bands my friend and her group listen to, they really aren't very metal, nor are they very heavy. i said so, but this one girl insisted on arguing with me about how she listens to way heavier bands and fir isn't heavy compared to them.
im so tired of these constant arguments with people like this girl who insist that any music that is not the one they identify with is bad. to them, no pop is ever good, every band that has gone from pop punk to pop is horrible, and if its not heavy its not worth listening to.
i dont know, i just really wanted to get this off my chest because i think about it so much. maybe im the poser i guess.

favorite music
Current mood:  curious

im kind of making this to procrastinate, to be honest, but also wanted to talk about music genres and stuff. im really into a lot of alternative culture, so i listen to a bunch of different genres under that umbrella. i actually grew up listening to pop punk music without realizing or having a name for it, so bands like blink-182, Green Day, and Fall Out Boy were some of my first introductions to this type of music. i still remember listening to other My Chemical Romance songs on a whim after listening to "Teenagers" on the radio. more recently, ive broadened my tastes to some trad goth bands like The Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees, and even some folk punk like Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains. its really interesting to look into different subcultures and see how the music affects them. music is so important to these subcultures, and i cant wait to listen to more different styles. recommendations are appreciated, although i think i should try to focus on the genres im listening to now to get a better understanding of them.
