fat shaming in alt fashion communities
I've seen fat shaming on all social media sites in every alt fashion community and I thought It would be good to say something about it. fat shaming has no place in any alt fashion community (it has no place in literally ANY community but this post is about alt fashion). fat shaming is a terrible thing to do, it causes more harm to a person then any “help” someone was trying to do. Plus, you have no idea what a person's life is like, you have no say over their body. (simply searching ‘does fat shaming work’ brings up many studies that proves it doesn’t) any thinlyveiled excuse one might have that “they just want to look out for the persons health” is easily seen as a way to hid someones hate for fat people for simply existing. plus, fat isn’t a synonymy for bad. I’m not good with words, so I’ll be linking a video that was wonderfully researched and explains everything I want to say perfectly. While the video is made by someone in the lolita fashion community, she only spends a little bit of the video discussing that community (plus it can be applied to any alt fashion community). She also brings up many onther social problems, like poverty, un-fair wealth distribution, mental health problems, racial problems, and sexisim. The video is very long, but I highly recommend watching it if you actually care about the communities you are apart of and the people in them. Please please please watch the video if you have the time. it's very informative and can help someone see all these problems in a new way. https://youtu.be/r9p-pQUv8kk
