That feeling always sucks, I've never felt the want to make out with them but just general romantic thoughts. I try to just not think about it and let the feelings pass. If they stay for longer than that, there may be some sense of an actual romantic feeling, but if not, then I think it safe to assume it was just spur of the moment hankering for another person.
