Haven't added much to that last sketch since I posted it, but I've started working on some lyrics and more conceptual development and arrangement things. I think I want the song to largely be devoid of percussion except for drum machine in the choruses. I've already programmed the beat I want to use and just need to get to that point of the record so I can throw it in. On that note, I usually take a chronological approach to songwriting and production. I usually just have an idea, and if I think it's strong enough and have a direction I think I can take it, I'll record what I want to be the intro and then go from there, allowing ideas to come to me as I write the song and produce it from start to finish. I don't know if this is "the best" approach, but it works for me, and I don't believe that there is any improper way to produce any piece of art. I hope to get the first verse recorded tomorrow and read a bit more to give some more thoughts on the Muir writings.-Matt
